RESEARCH: Cultural Digital Library Indexing Our Heritage: UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee has named over 630 cultural and natural sites as protected. However, pollution, wars, and natural disasters take their toll on these ancient structures. Project CLIOH proposes to develop state-of-the-art technologies to, Collect, Index, Archive and Disseminate library and museum compliant data of all the endangered cultural treasures located around the world as identified by UNESCO.

Intelligent Information Management Systems: There is a critical need for innovative information management and knowledge discovery tools to sift through vast volumes of heterogeneous data from various information sources. This project looks into developing Intelligent Software Systems that can integrate information resources and extract embedded knowledge from these information sources.

Intelligent Structural Damage Assessment: Structural materials of the 21st century will have to meet increasingly demanding standards for performance and life. The strength and integrity of a structural component deteriorates mainly due to corrosion and fatigue along with other failure mechanisms in structural materials. In this project, we investigate the material mechanics at various levels through mechanics/physical aspects from corrosion experiments, and mathematical and computational models to understand the evolution of corrosion damage and its effect on material integrity.
