Final Project
Due August 1, 2001
75 points total
25 of the 75 points will go to the STAIR
This is the chance for me and the rest of your peers to view your work and truly appreciate your efforts in web design. It will also give me a chance to do some preliminary grading.
Final Project Requirements:
A Satisfactory Project will:
- Solve the stated problem (see your Final Project Proposal)
- Have consistent organization
- Have consistent style throughout the Web
- Be a good example of programming style (when looking at source code)
- Works without error
- Use standard HTML tags
- Credit all sources of images, scripts and other resources
- Includes a complete STAIR that highly emphasizing implementation and refinement
- Your final project Will NOT include your lab assignments. Your final project must be made of new and original html files and contain a minimum of 6 html documents. (NOTE: these pages do not include your Stair.)
Examples of the Following Elements Must Be Used in the Web:
- A background image or color
- Must illustrate page formatting by using frames or tables
- A table
- A list
- An image map (at least one)
The point system will work like this:
- 25 - STAIR ... Complete this ... I had five people lose 25 points and a full grade because they refused to complete a stair. NO REALLY!! Give me a STAIR!
Nothing is worse than marking someone down and giving them a B when they
deserved an A.
- 15 - Everything works and the project follows good Web Design 15 - Good source code ... this means indenting and spacing.
- 15 - Meets all project requirements
- 10 - Credits all sources, etc.
- 10 - A good project that does all that is asked above and moves a little beyond what we did in class, works properly, succeeds in solving the problem and shows some imagination. See above for specifics.
- 10 - Goes well beyond the expectations stated above. Earning these extra points requires original work that goes beyond what has been covered in class. Page is also aesthetically pleasing and/or very
informative about its specific subject. If I learn something, your grade is boosted.
- Use of a Web editor on any page will result in an automatic 0. MS Word is an editor.
Note: You will get a 0 if the project was a work of plagiarism (beyond the expected borrowing of scripts). Borrowing and modifying scripts is acceptable, with an author's permission. However, plagiarism also constitutes failure to credit the author(s) of modified scripts. Please give credit where credit is due. Any evidence of work that is not your own (other than said scripts and borrowed images) will be dealt with severely.
Final STAIR
You will have to submit a very complete STAIR. I want to be able to read you STAIR and know exactly what you did, what problems you had and how you solved them. This is a college level, final project. Your work should reflect this.
You might want to add things like what disappointed you about the project, what
you feel really good about - victories! - and how far did your final product
stray from your original concept. The more detail, the higher the points
given.
To see what I did for the last STAIR go to stair_finalproject.txt.
To see what I did for my final project go to "Ring-Bearers Anonymous".
Special thanks to Leanne Burrow, Andy Harris, Bob Molnar, Paula Trefun, and Jennifer Stewart for their input, inspiration, content, code, lessons, and giving me the opportunity to boldly going where I have never gone before. Thanks! - Margaret Lion
