STAIR & Change Your Email Password
Due by midnight on Due July 2, 2001
STAIR - 5 Points - 1 point each area
Email Password - 5 points
Email to Margaret Lion at mlion@cs.iupui.edu
It's time to put STAIR to work. Complete the STAIR exercise. When completed, type the answers/information for each item (S-T-A-I-R) in the body of the email you are required to send in Part 2 (See below). DO NOT SEND AN EMAIL ATTACHMENT! Due to the current flood of viruses, I will not open an attachment.
Also make sure to send me the last 4 digits of your student ID number. Put this information at the top of your email. I use this information when creating a grading sheet.
State the Problem: Pick either a problem YOU need to solve in a few days or one that you have solved recently. There are no rules here other than those outlined in the STAIR Process. Use plain, simple English.
Tools: List ALL of the tools you can think of! Yes, your brain can count as a tool.
Algorithm: What are your options? What can you do? Think of all of the possibilities. Leave no stone unturned. Here's where we can state the bizarre.
Implementation: Now is where you get to actually DO something. If this is a problem you need to solve you can tell me how it goes. You can write this down as you do it, which would be cool, but often unrealistic. If you have to do it first then write it down, be sure to remember as much detail as possible and just tell the story as it happened. If this is a problem you have solved, you can tell me how it went, etc.
Refinement: Now you get to tell how you will or would have fine tuned what you did. Would you have done it any differently? Did you discover some new tools? Did you have to rethink the problem? If you did some fine tuning during the implementation stage repeat it here.
Please note that you must change your password. Failure to change your password will result in 0 points and a 'frozen' account which means that you will have a lot of obstacles to go through to get it 'unfrozen' for the rest of the semester.
