Prof. Gene Spafford (Purdue).
Abstract: As a field, we have spent a great deal of time and energy attempting to solve problems in security and privacy. However, our solutions are not always directed against the underlying causes of problems. Further, sometimes our solutions complicates other aspects of the problems. This talk is of a work-in-progress, presenting some of the speaker's evolving thoughts on the relationship of design, security, privacy and society. No representation is made about correctness or coherence, but hopefully there are a few grains of truth scattered throughout.
